Basement Guardian Setup Steps
Before starting, make sure you have the following ready:
- A smartphone with the Basement Guardian app installed:
- Access to your home Wi-Fi network (name and password)
- Physical access to the Gemini Wi-Fi module (small brown box with two buttons: Reset and Link)
- Access to the metal battery box (where the Wi-Fi module is plugged in)
Step 1: Resetting the Wi-Fi Module
On the Gemini module, press and hold the Reset button for 20 seconds. Release and then check your phone’s Wi-Fi settings for a network named ww-gem-XXXXX (the X's represent a series of letters and numbers).
Do NOT connect to it yet, just confirm that it's visible.
If you don’t see the network:
- Unplug the small cable from the Gemini module connected to the metal battery box (it looks similar to a phone jack).
- Wait 10 seconds and plug it back in.
- Repeat the reset step (holding the reset button for 20 seconds).
- Check again for the ww-gem-XXXXX network.
Officially, this step isn't required, but it is recommended to clear cache or temporary data issues.
Step 2: Connecting via the App
Open the Basement Guardian app, tap "Add Device," and select "Basement Guardian".
The app will instruct you to connect to the ww-gem-XXXXX network:
- Navigate to your phone’s Wi-Fi settings and select this network.
- After connecting, return to the Basement Guardian app.
Step 3: Select Your Home Network
Once you're back in the app, scroll down to the password field.
If you don’t see the keyboard immediately, tap near the “eye” icon or the small white dot to activate the input field.
Enter your home Wi-Fi password and tap "Next".
Final Step: Finalizing Setup
The app will display several screens to complete the setup. If the installation freezes or shows a spinning circle, fully close and reopen the app:
Closing and reopening the app often resolves these issues. Once reopened, your pump should appear as "Online" and may perform a brief test, indicating a successful setup.
